Have been using a sponge filter for many years and it works great.

Pros - don't have to worry about shrimps/fry getting sucked into the filters.
Pros - Very low water flow
Pros - No filter change
Pros - Cheap

Can't think of any cons about it.

It’s just something I’ve not really needed in an Opae ula tank so saves on the electricity bill. :tongue:

For those who don't use the filter, how do you manage the feeding when there are several animals?

How often do you feed? In the tank I will have 250/300 animals

Once a week I will put a pinch of spirulina in their tanks, no filters etc. in my breeder tank I have thousands and no algae grows as it’s all eaten constantly.
