@Algae In Space That is a nice piece of rock you got there. May i ask if you use a filter during cycle process? And i realise many of you guy are pretty much within 30cm to 45cm tank size and it looked great. Would it be too small for lets say 60 opae ula to fit in such size?

It will be ok I guess. Have a look at this neat little study http://www.spacegrant.hawaii.edu/report ... e_FA06.pdf
They state: "Microcosms should be loaded with an initial density of 3.2 shrimp per liter of environment plus an additional 20 percent of the total number to account for initial die offs." In fact I have a little bit too few in my tank.
Happy you like it. I like too! But I am starting a new tank with lava only and am not sure if I'll keep this one when the new one is funktional It will be a cylindrical tank 30 x 30, 21 l. What excites me about a lava only tank are the little caves that form when you pile some lava stones on top of each other and the purity of course.
I was using a filter, yes. But only some 2 hours a day. Now I only use it 30 minutes per day.
I guess a 20-30 l tank is a ideal size. On the other hand I would use a 500 l tank if I had the resources.
