You could try it but i found the best way for them to be out in the open is to have a large number of them, they seem to get braver in numbers.

A new home for the opaes, now with many holes and caves for them to hide and swim about! With temp stable at 26degC, hope they will breed soon!

Thanks Vorteil, as of now, they are still rejecting the new home as they are still swimming around the end of the tank, hope they will accept their new home and rest on it after a week or two.

Nice and unique. Wonder how it looks if the larger piece is on the bottom.

Good to be still able to see them hiding in the spot i expect them to, however the sand are growing brown algae instead of green algae, should i be worried about it?

Nope that is all part of the cycling process, you will get the brown algae and in turn it will slow down in growth and you will get green algae. You can remove the brown algae if you wish but I’d wait until it’s finished it’s growth spurt. A few snails would make light work of it though.

since now im using a fan, im topping up 1-1.5L of water daily, would this cause any disturbance to the cycling process as new water was introduced to the tank on a daily basis.
