That's the right stuff, limestone is what buffers your tank water

You can use as much or as little as you wish so long as you have 'some' in there. The more hiding places you have in the tank the happier the shrimp will be though, so stacking a few bits on each other provides cover when they want it after moulting etc.

If it doesn't fit you can always wrap it up in a bath towel and smash it up with a hammer, or get someone else to do this for you.
